The Days Before the Competition: A Glimpse into Olympic Preparations
In these precious few days between the opening ceremony and their events, athletes are in a unique blend of relaxation and focus. They’ve worked tirelessly to reach this point, and now it’s all about maintaining that peak performance while soaking in the Olympic atmosphere.
With the initial adrenaline rush behind them, athletes often have a lighter training schedule. It's about fine-tuning skills, reviewing strategies, and staying sharp without overexerting themselves. Think of it as the calm before the storm—where mental and physical preparation meets the tranquility of a well-deserved break. Maddie and Dylan shared a training space as they prepare for their events in a few days with their coaches. Pictured above: Maddie and Alex, both from Olympia, enjoy a rest break (left) bewteen running routines (right).
When they’re not in training, many athletes take a moment to enjoy the city. Paris is brimming with charm, from leisurely strolls along the Seine to savoring croissants in cozy cafes. It’s a chance to unwind, soak in the local culture, and gather fresh inspiration before the intense focus of competition. Around training Dylan and Maddie found time to walk the streets of the Olympic Village (pictured below). The Olympic Village is buzzing with camaraderie and shared experiences. Athletes from around the world have the chance to bond, share tips, and build friendships that last a lifetime. These interactions often provide a boost of morale and remind everyone of the larger, global community they’re a part of.
So, as the athletes get ready to compete, they’re navigating these last few days with a mix of excitement, preparation, and a dash of Parisian flair. It’s a fascinating time that sets the stage for the incredible performances we’ll soon witness.
The countdown is well and truly underway for Olympian Maddie as we countdown to the first of Team NZ's trampoline athlete's time to shine on the Olympic stage ✨? Only 2 days to go! How will you be cheering Maddie on?
