Welcoming new Rhythmic Lead Coach Kathryn Holdsworth!

30 Oct

It is with great pleasure and excitement that we welcome Kathryn Holdsworth back to Olympia Gymnastic Sports. Kathryn will assume the new role of Interim Lead Coach – Rhythmic Gymnastics. The role will involve coaching and coach mentoring of our rhythmic gymnastics junior coaches. Additionally the role will be responsible for supporting and growing Olympia’s international rhythmic gymnastics programme. Kathryn will also play an important part in contributing to, and supporting the implementation of Olympia’s new Competition Coach Strategy.

Kathryn is a highly respected and experienced international rhythmic gymnastics coach who is a founding member of Olympia, merging the rhythmic gymnastics arm, Kudos Rhythmic Academy, with artistic and trampoline clubs nearly  20 years ago. Kathryn is an experienced international coach, who has coached and managed New Zealand teams at international events in Europe, Asia and Oceania. A personal highlight for her was coaching the New Zealand Rhythmic Gymnastics team at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India, to a ranking of fourth overall. All three members of the squad were from Olympia; a rare achievement. A former National representative herself, Kathryn has coached numerous National Champions and New Zealand representatives. She is a five-time winner of Sport Canterbury's Outstanding Coach Award in Gymnastics and has been a guest coach in both Australia and the Netherlands.
