Vacant Position - Competitive Rhythmic Coach & Yoga Instructor
The Competitive Rhythmic and Yoga Coach’s role is to run two programmes at Olympia (Rhythmic and Yoga). Under the Competitive Rhythmic programme - the coach is to ensure that every gymnast understands the necessary requirements to compete to their maximum ability, ensure the most recent and effective coaching techniques are identified and incorporated into the programme, adhere to the Board’s policy of ensuring a weekly average of no less than 8 gymnasts per session, ensure all gymnasts compete in relevant National and New Zealand representative competitions, ensure gymnasts are entered in any physical ability or fitness tests, or attend any national or regional clinics, required by Gymnastics New Zealand, as much as possible, organise annual sessions in nutrition and health for the gymnasts and their parents, encourage all gymnasts to focus on a high level of conditioning, good form in line with the latest code of points and relevant to the level of the gymnast, work with Brevet judges to ensure that all routines maximise the use of the current Code of Points and that routines are adapted to changes in the Code, work in accordance with the Coaches’ Code of Conduct, continually set a high professional standard and example for other coaches to follow at all times, mentor and work alongside junior development coaches, liaise with international coach and code manager. Under the Yoga programme – the coach is not only responsible for taking the day time yoga classes , but also for the management of the programme in conjunction with Olympia Gymnastics Sports’ administration team. Duties will include marketing of the yoga programme, liaison with all attendees, timetabling, programme development and implementation.
The successful applicant will have proven experience in rhythmic gymnastics coaching and yoga instructing. Sport Management and Physical Education degrees or qualifications would be beneficial to the role. Any international qualifications will be submitted to Gymnastics New Zealand for "recognition of prior learning" and will be required to fit into the New Zealand Gymnastics Education framework. A vehicle is required as the programmes run out of two venues. The applicant will be required to run the Yoga programme in the mornings and the rhythmic programme runs in the afternoons/evenings.
This position is for 30 hours per week.
