Madaline (Maddie) Davidson bounces into Silver

With over 10 years of dedication to the sport of trampoline, many international tours under her belt and a coach/athlete relationship second to none, Maddie Davidson soared to new heights at the 2017 World Age Trampoline Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The 18-year-old won a bronze medal in the synchro event with partner Kate Nicholson (Extreme Trampoline), and a silver in the individual event.

Maddie is the first New Zealand representative in over 30 years to medal in the 17-21 year age group and the first Kiwi to double medal in more than 20 years. Her goal going into the Championships was to make finals, which Maddie did so in second place with a 96.820 in prelims. She then retained that position in the finals with a score of 53.280 (just 0.110 off gold).

Maddie's successes were acknowledged at the 2017 Annual Club Prizegiving where she was awarded an Olympia Full Fee Scholarship and was selected as the Olympia Gymnast of the Year for 2017.  Recent news in from Gymnastics New Zealand  "Nexia New Zealand 2018 Canterbury Sports Awards Finalists Young Sportswomen of the Year - Madaline Davidson".  Maddie will go up against many talented sportswomen from all sporting codes throughout Canterbury in February at the Awards Evening.

Congratulations Maddie and Alex, Olympia is hugely proud of your achievements and we wish Maddie all the very best at the sports awards.
